I just can’t seem to be able to write as of late. I don’t know where this writer’s block comes from. I haven’t taken a fiction class in over a year, but I don’t seem to remember having trouble coming up with stories in the past. I have my last short story at UNCW due Wednesday and I’ve barely started. Sure, I’ve written a conversation or two, jotted down ideas, but I can’t seem to find a plot. That’s always been my biggest problem: creating a plot. I tend to create a character and follow him or her till they lead me where I want to go, but that hasn’t been working out as of late.
Lindsey told me I need to figure out a major theme. My past stories revolved around relationships, be it an ex-girlfriend, a long-distance relationship or an old friend. I think it’s time I branch out, leave the old stuff behind. This is my final piece at UNC Wilmington and I need to create my best work.
